NEET UG 2026 Results Announced: Over 11 Lakh Candidates Qualify; Counselling Process to Begin Soon
July 17, 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced the results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2026, bringing relief to lakhs of medical aspirants across the country. Candidates can now access their scorecards through the official NEET portal using their application number and date of birth.
According to the declared results, more than 11.2 lakh candidates have qualified for admission to undergraduate medical courses, including MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other allied healthcare programmes. This year's examination witnessed intense competition, with the qualifying cut-off increasing in several categories.
The All India Rank (AIR) 1 was jointly secured by Aryan Gupta of Punjab and Panshul Bansal of Haryana, both scoring 715 out of 720 marks. The National Testing Agency also released the merit list, category-wise cut-offs, and state-wise performance statistics along with the results.
Data released by the NTA indicates that Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of qualified candidates, followed by several other high-performing states. Additionally, women accounted for more than 58% of the qualified candidates, reflecting their growing representation in medical education.
Following the declaration of results, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is expected to announce the counselling schedule for the 15% All India Quota seats. State counselling authorities will subsequently release separate schedules for admissions under the 85% state quota. Candidates are advised to keep their documents ready and regularly check the official counselling websites for updates.
Education experts have advised candidates to carefully review their scorecards, understand the counselling process, and make informed choices while filling their preferences for colleges and courses. With medical seats remaining highly competitive, strategic participation in counselling will play a crucial role in securing admission.
The announcement marks the beginning of the next phase of the admission process, as thousands of aspiring doctors prepare for counselling and seat allocation in medical institutions across India.
