Dharwad Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (DIMHANS) is a government medical and postgraduate mental-health institution located on Belgaum Road in Dharwad, Karnataka. It is an autonomous organisation of the Government of Karnataka and has a long institutional history dating back to 1845, when it began as a lunatic asylum. The institution subsequently became a Government Mental Hospital in 1922 and was renamed Karnataka Institute of Mental Health in 1993. In 2009, it was converted into an autonomous postgraduate training institute and renamed Dharwad Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences.
