The college was established in 1995 with the objective of supporting sericultural development in the Chikkaballapura and Kolar regions and promoting the ruralisation of agricultural and sericultural education. The institution started its B.Sc. (Sericulture) degree programme in 1995. In 2007, the college added the B.Sc. (Agriculture) programme in response to demand and the availability of campus facilities.
